Random object! What do you want from me?

Random (136)

Seek out a random object– something from a junk drawer, something you see discarded in a ditch, something familiar, something near and dear to you. Pick something, anything. Sit with it, or if it’s too nasty to pick up, sit with the idea of it. Why did you choose it? Or did it choose you? Free-write for 20 minutes about what this object is saying to you. What does it want from you?

For an example, please see “Slipper in Fall,” a weird shoe essay, published in DIAGRAM 12.4: http://thediagram.com/12_4/beman.html
