Hankshaw, Sissy

The protagonist of Tom Robbins’s novel, “Even Cowgirls Get the Blues,” Sissy Hankshaw possesses first phalanxes of phenomenal size. In the book, Robbins quotes Casimir Stanislas D’Arpentigny, one of the co-founders of modern hand analysis: “The higher animal is revealed in the hand but the man is in the thumb.”
